Doctors from Excimer-laser Eye Microsurgery Department
Avagyan Medical Center's Excimer-laser eye microsurgery clinic is a place where not only Armenian citizens but also foreign patients come to Armenia specifically proposing to restore their eyesight. This is due to several reasons, the first of which is our vast experience and the trust we have earned over the years, in addition, our state-of-the-art equipment is not inferior to foreign, and the price of surgeries is much more affordable.
Since 2001, our medical center has started eye laser microsurgery; began to be performed photorefractive keratectomy or PRK eye surgery which is intended for correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism by using an excimer laser to reshape without creating a flap in the cornea. The purpose of this surgery is to free the patient from glasses and contact lenses.
Our goal is to perform the operation once and in such a way that the vision will serve the person for the rest of his life. For this reason, our patients remain under our supervision. The operations are considered harmless and are carried out with state-of-the-art equipment.
In 2009, our clinic was the first in Armenia to start treating the previously incurable Keratoconus disease. Keratoconus is a degenerative non-inflammatory disease of the cornea, during which the cornea becomes thin and takes the shape of a cone, and that is why it got the name keratoconus. We operate on keratoconus using the Collagen Cross-Linking method, which means strengthening the cornea with the help of ultraviolet rays.
